Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition 2026 to spotlight pet textiles and climate-adaptive innovations in August 2026

The upcoming edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition 2026 will return to Shanghai following the 2025 event, where more than 3,700 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions participated and over 100,000 buyers from 123 countries and regions attended.

Wilmet Shea said, “In today’s evolving market landscape, buyers are looking for more than materials – they are looking for direction, innovation, and long-term partners. Intertextile Apparel continues to evolve alongside the industry, expanding its showcase to address functional performance, sustainability priorities, and emerging product categories, catering to a wide range of buyer preferences – from the traditional to the unconventional.”

The 2026 edition is structured around four themes. Fashion Forward will present curated fabric displays and the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum. Performance Textiles will focus on functional fabrics for sportswear, outdoor, and lifestyle applications. Sustainability will feature eco-conscious textile solutions through the Econogy Hub. Textile Future will present smart textiles, AI-driven design tools, and advanced manufacturing systems.

A new focus area at the autumn edition will be the Pet Boutique, which debuted during the spring event and will expand for August. Organizers said the pet textile market is forecast to grow at 5.6% annually through 2031, with Asia-Pacific expected to lead regional growth. The zone will present fabrics and materials for pet clothing, accessories, and related products.

Fred Wang said, “Applying natural textile materials in the pet sector is still an emerging avenue. The primary role of this display area is to help the industry understand these materials and master their application methods. We aim to leverage Intertextile Apparel’s strong influence to attract more pet sector players through the Pet Boutique, while in the related Pet Forum I was honoured to discuss the applications of our natural fibres in the sector.”

The expanded Functional Lab will continue with its integrated exhibition, display, and seminar model. Its central feature, The CUBE, will display functional fabrics and accessories and introduce a Product Presentation Series for exhibitors to present new developments.

This edition will also expand coverage of climate-adaptive textiles and silver-age applications. These include fabrics designed for temperature and humidity regulation, along with textile developments aimed at ageing populations, focusing on comfort, ease of care, lightweight performance, and practical everyday use.

Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel engineer Zoe Zhang said, “At the forum (Weaving the Future: Advancing Functional Textiles with Innovative Technologies), we joined forces with partners including Lenzing and Highsun to exchange our latest insights on functional textiles. The conversations continued well beyond the show floor – with several domestic manufacturers reaching out to us to explore collaboration on nanomaterial applications. Intertextile Apparel is a springboard for meaningful dialogue and cross-disciplinary innovation in the intelligent and sustainable development of functional textiles.”

Additional zones planned for the exhibition include Accessories Vision, Beyond Denim, Essential Suits & Shirts, Innovation & Digital Solutions Zone, Premium Wool Zone, SalonEurope, and Verve for Design.

The fair is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt, Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and China Textile Information Center. It will run alongside Yarn Expo Autumn, CHIC and PH Value.
