Uttar Pradesh is attracting interest from investors looking to make large investments and help develop the State into one of the country’s leading textile hubs, Ramky Group founder and chairman and former Rajya Sabha member Ramki Reddy said on Monday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the UP Textile Conclave 2026, Reddy said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, improved discipline, security, infrastructure and a stable administrative system had strengthened industrialists’ confidence in the State.
“Investors want to invest in places that provide a stable and reliable environment along with security,” he said.

Reddy added that Uttar Pradesh, as the country’s most populous State with abundant resources, had the potential to emerge as a major investment destination.
He said the textile industry was among the oldest and most important industries in the country. Referring to Tamil Nadu’s success in textiles, Reddy said Uttar Pradesh should study the southern State’s experience and formulate a concrete action plan suited to its own strengths and requirements.
According to him, achieving this would require the government and industry to work together. He also described the textile hubs and parks being developed around Lucknow and other parts of Uttar Pradesh as important initiatives that could accelerate the sector’s growth.
Reddy said stable policies, improved infrastructure and affordable utility services would encourage further investment in the textile sector.
Textile and apparel market outlook
At the conclave, Reddy highlighted the growth expected in the textile and apparel sector over the next five years, with exports projected to rise from $37 billion to $100 billion.
He also pointed to Uttar Pradesh’s young workforce, strong MSME base, established textile clusters, rich tradition of handloom and handicrafts, and large domestic market as factors supporting the State’s textile potential.
Ashwin Chandran, Chairman and Managing Director of Precot Limited and Vice President of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry, said the textile and apparel market is targeted to grow from approximately $180 billion to $350 billion over the next five years, while exports are expected to increase from $37 billion to $100 billion.
He said Uttar Pradesh could play a significant role in areas including technical textiles, sustainable and recycled products, and high-value home textiles.
To achieve this potential, he said the State would require skilled human resources, improved transportation infrastructure, reliable electricity and water supply, faster approvals and technological upgradation.
