Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the country’s third-largest textile manufacturing hub and contributes over 13% of India’s total textile production.
Addressing industry leaders, the Chief Minister assured them of the government’s full support and highlighted changes in the state’s business and industrial environment since 2017.
“The transformation since 2017 has been driven by improved law and order, better infrastructure, policy stability and a business-friendly administrative system…” CM said.
He added that the government was working to establish an integrated textile ecosystem spanning the complete value chain, including production, processing, skills and marketing.
Investment Proposals and Employment
According to Yogi Adityanath, the scale of investments entering the state has also reflected this change.
“Uttar Pradesh has received investment proposals worth Rs 50 lakh crore over the past nine years. Projects involving Rs 15 lakh crore have reached the ground, while proposals worth another Rs 7.5 lakh crore are ready for implementation,” he said.
Yogi claimed that more than 65 lakh youth had secured employment during the period. He also said the number of large factories had increased from around 14,000 to 35,000.
UP Records 96 Lakh MSME Units
Highlighting the state’s MSME ecosystem, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh currently has 96 lakh MSME units.
“Today, Uttar Pradesh has 96 lakh MSME units, the largest network of MSMEs among states,” he said.
He added that initiatives such as ‘One District, One Product’ had strengthened local manufacturing and traditional industries.
Investor Facilitation and Textile Policy
Referring to investor facilitation, the Chief Minister said platforms including Nivesh Mitra, Nivesh Sarathi and Udyami Mitra had helped streamline clearances. He also said sector-specific policies were being used to attract investments.
On the textile sector, Yogi Adityanath urged industry representatives to identify areas where the state’s ecosystem could be further strengthened.
“Whatever useful suggestions come from industry will be incorporated into the textile policy,” he said.
He said the government was committed to developing textile clusters supported by infrastructure, skilled manpower and linkages across the value chain.
New Textile Initiatives Launched
Yogi Adityanath also launched the UP Tex Mitra portal, Handloom Weaver Samriddhi Yojana and the Uttar Pradesh Textile Sector Training and Skill Development Scheme.
Letters of comfort and incentives under the UP Textile Policy were also distributed at the conclave.
