Local jeans manufacturers seeking to enter international markets will receive support from the Union and State governments, said B. Vithalraju, Joint Director of the Handlooms and Textiles Department, Kalaburagi North Zone.
He was speaking after inaugurating a one-day ‘Export Promotion Workshop’ organised under the Aspirational District programme at the Chamber of Commerce hall in Ballari on Monday.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Department of Handlooms and Textiles, Zilla Panchayat and the District Chamber of Commerce.
Focus on Exports and Quality Standards
“Entrepreneurs should not restrict themselves to production alone but should venture into exports. A proper procedure and adherence to quality standards are extremely important for sending products to international markets,” he said.
Mahanthesh K G Kanchimath, Deputy Director of the Textiles Department, said Ballari’s jeans industry had been selected under the Aspirational District programme with the objective of taking it to the global market.
“Efforts will be made to facilitate direct exports to foreign countries through the Sanjeevarayanakote Industrial Park,” he said.
The workshop also featured lectures by District Chamber of Commerce president Avvaru Manjunath, P. Kumeshareshan, scientist at the Central Silk Board, P Dorebabu, Deputy Director, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), and Lokeshwari’s Gowda, Deputy Director, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
The initiative focused on helping local jeans manufacturers understand export opportunities and the procedures and quality requirements involved in sending products to international markets.
