Aditya Birla Group, a US$67 billion global conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai, highlighted its integrated technical textile capabilities at Techtextil 2026 in Frankfurt. The showcase emphasized India’s growing position as a global hub for high-performance, value-added textile solutions.
Amid shifting global supply chains and rising demand for advanced materials, the Group presented its comprehensive technical textiles portfolio, demonstrating its transformation from a traditional textile manufacturer into a sustainability-focused, solutions-driven partner for high-performance and safety-critical applications.
India currently ranks as the fifth-largest technical textiles market globally and is expanding at a CAGR of 7.6%. This growth is supported by increasing domestic consumption, export diversification, and rising adoption across industries such as manufacturing, transportation, construction, renewable energy, and healthcare. Continued investments in R&D, automation, advanced manufacturing, and skill development are enabling India to move up the value chain toward precision-engineered textile solutions.
According to Kapil Agrawal, Business Head – Textiles at the Group, the evolving global technical textiles landscape demands partners that can combine innovation, scale, and reliability. He highlighted that India’s strength in fibre chemistry, spinning, and integrated manufacturing makes it an attractive sourcing destination for global buyers. “The global technical textiles market is evolving rapidly, and customers today are seeking partners who can combine innovation, scale, and reliability. Existing depth in upstream fibre chemistry, spinning capability, and integrated manufacturing makes India a compelling proposition for global buyers. Our participation in Techtextil 2026 reflects the progress India has made in advanced manufacturing and our commitment to serving global markets as a one-stop solution provider.”
At the exhibition, the Group brought together four key businesses—Aditya Birla Yarn, Century Enka, Birla Cellulose, and Viscose Filament Yarn—under a unified platform named “One ABG Technical Textiles.” This initiative marks a strategic shift from being individual material suppliers to offering integrated, end-to-end solutions for the global technical textiles ecosystem.
Under this unified platform, the Group showcased application-focused segments such as MobilTech, ProTech, InduTech, and HomeTech, along with emerging areas like GeoTech. These offerings reflect broader industry trends, including movement toward higher-value products, stricter regulatory and performance standards, supply chain realignment, and increasing focus on sustainability and circularity.
Mr. Agrawal further stated, “ Our vision is to be a globally influential, innovation-led partner that sets new benchmarks for performance, responsibility, and excellence in technical textiles.”
Europe remains a key market for technical textiles, driven by strong demand for high-performance materials that meet rigorous regulatory and environmental standards. The Group’s participation at Techtextil Frankfurt underscores its long-term commitment to strengthening relationships with European customers and expanding its global footprint.
