Arkema Unveils ENCOR® Bio-Based Acrylic Binders for Eco-Friendly Textiles

Arkema, a specialty materials company, has launched a new range of ENCOR® bio-based waterborne dispersions designed for textile printing and finishing applications. These binders contain up to 30% bio-based content(1) and can reduce carbon footprints by up to 40%(2) compared to traditional textile resins, supporting the textile industry’s sustainability efforts.

With the textile industry accounting for 6% to 8% of global emissions(3), there is a significant need to reduce the sector’s carbon footprint. Arkema’s bio-based solutions are intended to promote more sustainable textile products, assisting customers in achieving their sustainability and carbon reduction goals.

Arkema’s approach encompasses the entire lifecycle of textile production, from safer products, such as formaldehyde and APEO-free(4) formulations that comply with Oeko-Tex® Eco Passport standards(6) and are suitable for food contact(5), to the use of renewable and lower-carbon feedstocks. The company is also focused on end-of-life management, working to enhance the biodegradability of future grades, extend durability, and improve color solidity and washing resistance.
