The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) successfully hosted the Bharat Tex 2026 Roundtable Discussion and Curtain Raiser on April 24, 2026, at ITC Windsor. The session brought together key stakeholders to discuss opportunities and challenges ahead of Bharat Tex 2026, scheduled to take place in New Delhi from July 14–17, 2026.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. A. Sakthivel, followed by a keynote speech from Shri Naren Goenka. A detailed presentation by the Bharat Tex Federation outlined the scale, opportunities, and strategic preparations for the upcoming global textile event.
The roundtable saw participation from around 40 major international brands and buying houses, including Walmart, PVH, Ralph Lauren, Marks & Spencer, C&A, and Columbia Sportswear.
During the interactive session, participants shared insights on critical industry priorities such as strengthening the value chain, advancing sustainability and circularity, ensuring traceability, and meeting global compliance standards. The discussions also identified existing gaps and explored collaborative solutions to address them effectively.
In his address, Dr. Sakthivel highlighted the urgent need to close technology and quality gaps within the Indian textile sector. He acknowledged current challenges in fabric quality and suggested that, in the short term, strategic imports of specialized fabrics may be necessary while simultaneously strengthening domestic capabilities.
He also emphasized the importance of integrating global expertise into India’s textile ecosystem, proposing collaboration with Taiwanese industry players to introduce advanced technologies in synthetic yarn manufacturing. Stressing the need for industry-wide transformation, he noted that India’s recent Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with major economies have created significant opportunities for the country to emerge as a leading global sourcing hub.
Shri Naren Goenka echoed this sentiment, stating that India is at a pivotal moment and encouraged global sourcing partners to actively support Indian exporters in positioning the country as a preferred sourcing destination.
The session concluded with productive discussions between organizers and buying houses on enhancing participation and ensuring the success of Bharat Tex 2026. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Shri Raju Goenka.
