In a major boost to industrial development and MSME growth in Bihar, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi and Bihar Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary will jointly lay the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art Technology Centre at Khizarsarai in Gaya district on June 15, 2026.
The project, being developed with an investment of ₹170 crore, is expected to become a key driver of industrial modernization, skill development and entrepreneurship across southern Bihar and the historic Magadh region. The foundation stone ceremony will begin with a traditional Bhoomi Pujan and will be attended by senior officials from the Ministry of MSME and the Government of Bihar.
Strengthening MSMEs Through Technology and Innovation
The proposed Technology Centre is part of the Ministry of MSME’s nationwide network of Technology Centres and Extension Centres designed to enhance the competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises through advanced technology, skill development and business support services.
These centres have played a significant role in supporting the Government of India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by building indigenous manufacturing capabilities, promoting technological self-reliance and fostering sustainable industrial growth.
₹170 Crore Investment in Advanced Industrial Infrastructure
The Technology Centre will be established on a 20-acre land parcel provided by the Bihar Government at Khizarsarai, Gaya. The project includes approximately ₹86 crore for civil infrastructure and ₹84 crore for advanced machinery and equipment.
Spread across a built-up area of nearly 16,800 square metres, the facility will feature a Production Block, Training Block, Utility Block, Administrative Block, Multipurpose Hall, Hostel and Staff Accommodation.
The centre will primarily serve industries and MSMEs operating in sectors such as General Engineering, Heavy Engineering and Textile Testing, addressing critical technological and skill requirements of enterprises in the region.
Supporting MSMEs Across Multiple Districts
The facility is expected to benefit MSMEs located in Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad and Munger districts by providing access to advanced manufacturing technologies, industry-ready workforce training and specialized technical support services.
The centre aims to help enterprises improve productivity, adopt modern manufacturing practices, innovate products and strengthen their competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
Wide Range of Industry Services
The Technology Centre will offer comprehensive production and engineering services, including tool room facilities for moulds, dies, jigs and fixtures, CNC machining, CAD/CAM/CAE solutions, rapid prototyping and Industry 4.0 applications.
In addition, the facility will support renewable energy systems and provide advanced testing and development capabilities for industrial users.
A major focus will be placed on skill development through industry-oriented training programmes covering areas such as CAD/CAM/CAE, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, Prototyping, Quality Control, General Engineering, Heavy Engineering and Textile Technologies.
Business Advisory and Startup Support
Beyond technical services, the centre will provide business development and advisory support to MSMEs and entrepreneurs. These services will include market research, prototype development, Six Sigma implementation, regulatory compliance, supply chain management, digital marketing, branding, product design, modernization, automation, innovation support and startup incubation.
The integrated approach is expected to help local enterprises scale operations, improve efficiency and access new market opportunities.
Major Economic Impact for the Magadh Region
According to the Ministry of MSME, the Technology Centre is expected to train approximately 7,000 students and industry professionals annually through a combination of short-term and long-term programmes aligned with emerging industry requirements.
The centre is also projected to support more than 1,000 MSMEs every year through tooling services, job work and technical assistance.
Officials believe the facility will play a transformative role in bridging technology gaps, encouraging innovation and integrating local industries into national and global supply chains. By strengthening manufacturing capabilities and promoting entrepreneurship, the centre is expected to become a major catalyst for industrial growth and economic development across southern Bihar.
The establishment of the Technology Centre reflects the Government’s continued commitment to empowering MSMEs, fostering technological excellence and creating sustainable employment opportunities while accelerating Bihar’s industrial transformation.
