bluesign, the globally recognised sustainability solutions provider for the textile industry and an SGS company, has appointed Hanane Taidi as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant milestone as the organisation strengthens its role in advancing responsible textile production worldwide.
The appointment comes at a time when the textile industry is navigating rapidly evolving sustainability regulations, increasing transparency requirements and growing expectations around environmental accountability.
With over 25 years of industry leadership, bluesign has established itself as one of the textile industry’s most trusted systems for safer and more sustainable manufacturing by helping companies reduce environmental impact across the entire value chain while meeting stringent safety and sustainability standards.
Experienced Sustainability Leader Takes Charge
Hanane Taidi brings more than two decades of international leadership experience in sustainability, public affairs and strategic communications.
Before joining bluesign, she served as Director General of TIC Council, the global association representing the testing, inspection and certification (TIC) industry. During her tenure, she successfully unified two major international organisations into a single globally recognised industry body while strengthening collaboration across Europe, the United States, China and India.
Since 2014, Taidi has also served as a European Commission expert, working closely with policymakers on regulatory and sustainability initiatives.
Her extensive experience in regulatory affairs positions her to guide bluesign as textile manufacturers prepare for new global sustainability frameworks, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
Supporting Compliance Through Verified Data
As sustainability regulations continue to reshape global textile supply chains, the need for credible, verified environmental data has become increasingly important.
bluesign addresses this challenge through its comprehensive system approach, connecting manufacturers, brands and chemical suppliers while providing independent verification to improve environmental performance throughout textile production.
Under Taidi’s leadership, the organisation plans to expand this role by helping companies translate increasingly complex sustainability requirements into practical manufacturing solutions.
Focus on Scalable Sustainability
As CEO, Hanane Taidi will focus on scaling bluesign’s existing sustainability framework while strengthening its position as a global infrastructure for responsible textile production.
Her priorities include:
- Expanding access to verified sustainability data across all manufacturing tiers
- Strengthening collaboration within the bluesign System Partner network
- Supporting brands and manufacturers in meeting evolving regulatory requirements
- Enhancing practical implementation of sustainability and compliance solutions
Commenting on her appointment, Hanane Taidi said:
“bluesign has built a powerful foundation rooted in science and trust. The opportunity ahead is to scale that impact, giving the industry the tools, data, and systems needed to turn responsibility into measurable progress.”
Strengthening Responsible Textile Manufacturing
Since its establishment, bluesign has adopted an end-to-end approach to sustainable textile manufacturing by addressing every stage of production—from chemical inputs and raw materials to finished textile products.
The organisation’s focus on continuous improvement has helped manufacturers reduce environmental impact while improving worker safety and product quality.
With Hanane Taidi taking the helm, bluesign aims to further strengthen its support for textile manufacturers and global brands seeking greater transparency, verified environmental performance and long-term sustainability across increasingly complex global supply chains.
