BW Converting Joins Microsoft AI Lab with Data Innovation

BW Converting has been selected to join the prestigious Microsoft AI Co-Innovation Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, marking a major milestone in its digital transformation strategy. The chosen project centers on Accelerate — BW’s intelligent platform for fault anomaly detection — and is the result of a collaboration between its Accelerate Digital Services team and Barry-Wehmiller’s Digital Innovation team.

Launched in 2020, Accelerate goes beyond basic dashboards by integrating real-time machine data with the insights of skilled technicians. This hybrid model not only identifies inefficiencies but empowers customers to act on insights in real-time, enhancing equipment performance and reducing downtime.

According to Amber Stollfus, Director of Digital Services and Solutions at BW Converting, “It’s not just about seeing the numbers — it’s about understanding them.” That philosophy, combined with strategic guidance from TitletownTech (the Microsoft-backed innovation hub), led to BW Converting’s project being one of the first selected for lab collaboration.

The Microsoft AI Co-Innovation Lab offers rapid prototyping with Microsoft engineers, giving selected companies like BW Converting access to cutting-edge technology and faster market entry. The partnership also includes strategic planning sessions between BW leadership and TitletownTech’s managing partners, reinforcing BW’s commitment to fostering AI-driven industrial innovation across Wisconsin and beyond.

Ultimately, customers stand to benefit the most — as BW Converting evolves from data visualization to full digital enablement through artificial intelligence.
