BW Converting’s TexCoat G4 Earns Climate Validation from Aii

Baldwin’s precision spray finishing recognized as a verified sustainable solution for reducing energy, water, and carbon emissions in textiles

BW Converting announced that its Baldwin TexCoat® G4 precision spray finishing technology has been validated through collaboration with Fashion for Good and the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii). After rigorous testing and analysis, the system has been certified within Aii’s Climate Solutions Portfolio Registry as a proven, scalable solution for significantly reducing carbon emissions and resource consumption throughout the textile supply chain.

The TexCoat G4 replaces conventional pad-based finishing systems with a non-contact precision spray process that applies chemistry only where required. This innovation enables 40–50% energy savings, reduces water and chemical consumption by up to 50%, and eliminates waste during job changeovers—allowing mills to achieve ambitious sustainability targets while enhancing throughput and profitability.

“Being recognized by both Fashion for Good and Aii underscores the impact of TexCoat G4 not only as an innovative finishing technology but as a verified climate solution,” said Yiannis Vasilonikolos, Global Sales Leader, Textiles at BW Converting. “We are proud that the data confirms what our customers experience every day: measurable reductions in energy, water, and carbon footprint paired with consistently high finishing quality. This validation reinforces our commitment to helping textile producers meet both sustainability and competitiveness goals.”

Andrea Mariani, Production Director at Oreste Mariani, a leading European textile finisher, shared his real-world experience:

“At Oreste Mariani, we have been running BW Converting’s Baldwin TexCoat G4 since 2022. The system has significantly reduced our energy and chemical use while maintaining high finishing quality. Independent studies, such as the BluWin BAT+ trial, validated these savings under real production conditions. In 2024, we also implemented BW Converting’s Baldwin Corona Pure for textiles, which allowed us to achieve maximum water repellency and remove an additional washing step. This means better product performance and lower resource consumption. We’ve also received excellent support and reliability from BW Converting’s team. Together, TexCoat G4 and Corona technologies are integral to our sustainability journey—helping us lower environmental impact, reduce costs, and continue delivering premium fabrics.”

The validation follows successful field trials in Europe and Asia, confirming that TexCoat G4 delivers substantial environmental savings without compromising fabric quality. Now recognized in Aii’s Climate Solutions Portfolio, the technology will be accessible to leading apparel brands and retailers seeking practical, decarbonization-focused wet processing solutions.

TexCoat G4’s patented non-contact process also improves operational efficiency through faster changeovers, reduced downtime, and seamless Industry 4.0 integration, supporting complete traceability and digital optimization.
