Indian Cotton Trade Urged to Boycott Turkiye Amid Rising Tensions
Amid India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor, serious concerns have emerged over Turkiye’s actions that openly support Pakistan and undermine India’s sovereignty. Turkiye has reportedly supplied drones, weapons, and personnel aiding Pakistan in its attacks on Indian civilians and military sites.
Turkiye has also repeatedly taken an anti-India stance at international platforms, raising the Kashmir issue and working against Indian interests. These hostile actions have raised strong objections from the Indian community.
In 2024, Turkiye imported just US$74.27 million worth of goods—including cotton—from India, while exporting goods worth US$2.84 billion to the Indian market. This stark trade imbalance and Turkiye’s geopolitical posture have sparked a nationwide call for action.
Indian cotton traders are now being urged to reconsider their commercial ties with Turkiye. The call to boycott cotton trade with Turkiye is being promoted as a step toward safeguarding national interests and encouraging a self-reliant India.
All business communities are being requested to act in the nation’s best interest and explore alternative markets that align with India’s strategic priorities.
