EDITORIAL TEAM

the frst issue of our “Technical Textile Today” magazine (Oct-Dec 2024) received overwhelming response from the readers, which shows that they have enjoyed reading the various informative articled, news and data published in the issue. We also received a valuable suggestion from the academia to include a students’ corner so that students can contribute their innovative ideas and interesting project findings. We have received one such article and added in this issue, but we request academic institutions to encourage students to contribute more and more such articles. We believe to continuously improve the quality of the magazine, hence request all our readers to give your ideas and suggestons.

In this issue, we have chosen to cover High Performance Speciality fibres and yarns which a very important topic for the technical textile industry. It is well known that the technical textile industry in India is heavily dependent on imported high performance Speciality fibres and yarns as most of them are not produced in India, even if some of the varieties are produced, their volume is very less and mostly consumed in-house by the producers. We tried to give wide coverage on the various issues on this subject from our members, such as high import tariff, on time availability of right quality and quantity, testing, lack of standards in India on many High-Performance Fibres and Yarns, QCO, leading to import of inferior quality of products. Evaluation of certain critical parameters of the final products produced from the High-Performance fibres and yarns, is also an issue due to non-availability of testing facilities in India. ITTA, as a voice of the industry, has made representations to the appropriate authorities on all the above issues and problems, some are resolved and some are yet to be addressed. We hope that our readers will get valuable insights into all the above aspects through this issue of the magazine. We welcome your valuable feedback on this issue of the magazine.
