GR3N SA Raises €15.5 Million To Scale PET Recycling Technology And Build Industrial Plant In Spain

GR3N SA has announced the successful closing of a €15.5 million Series B financing round aimed at accelerating the commercialization of its proprietary PET recycling technology and supporting the construction of its first industrial-scale recycling plant.

The company stated that the funding will be used to develop MODUS, its first industrial-scale facility in Spain. The plant is expected to have a processing capacity of 40,000 tons per year and represents a key step in scaling up the company’s MADE (Microwave Assisted DEpolymerization) technology.

According to GR3N SA, the MODUS project has already been selected to receive €35 million from the European Union Innovation Fund, providing additional financial support as the facility progresses toward commercialization.

The company noted that current PET recycling methods are largely based on mechanical processes, which can only process a limited portion of available PET waste streams. Materials such as coloured bottles, textile fibres and films often remain outside conventional recycling systems and are frequently sent to landfill or incineration.

GR3N SA stated that its patented MADE technology is designed to process a wider range of PET waste materials. According to the company, the technology can handle 100% of PET waste streams while generating up to 80% fewer CO₂ emissions compared with virgin PET production. The process also produces food-grade monomers that can be recycled repeatedly.

The Series B funding represents the next stage of the company’s growth strategy as it moves from pilot-scale operations toward industrial-scale deployment. GR3N SA said the investment will support the commercialization of its recycling platform and expand its capacity to process difficult-to-recycle PET waste streams.

The financing round was led by 360 Capital, with VP Textile joining as a new investor. Existing investors also participated in the funding round.

In a statement, GR3N SA said:

“The proceeds will finance MODUS, our first industrial-scale plant, located in Spain, with a capacity of 40,000 tons per year. MODUS has already been selected to receive €35 million from the EU Innovation Fund, and marks a defining step toward bringing our MADE technology to market at scale.”

The company further stated:

“Why this matters: 98% of recycling today is mechanical, and can only process 15% of available PET. The other 85% (coloured bottles, textile fibres, films) ends up in landfill or incinerated. Our patented MADE technology (Microwave Assisted DEpolymerization) changes that, processing 100% of PET waste with up to 80% fewer CO₂ emissions compared to virgin PET, and producing food-grade monomers that can be recycled infinitely. This round is the next step in bringing MADE from pilot to industrial scale.”
