Hyosung TNC Showcases regen™ BIO Spandex Developments at Functional Fabric Fair

Company highlights sugarcane-based bio spandex and CREORA® fibers at April 7–9 event

Hyosung TNC presented developments in its regen™ BIO Spandex at the Functional Fabric Fair held from April 7–9, 2026. The company outlined its bio-based production approach using sugarcane as a feedstock. It also showcased a range of CREORA® functional textile solutions during the event.

Hyosung TNC introduced updates to its regen™ BIO Spandex at the Functional Fabric Fair, held from April 7–9, 2026. The company detailed its efforts to develop a bio-based production system using sugarcane-derived inputs.

As part of its long-term strategy, Hyosung TNC has committed $1 billion towards building an integrated production system covering the full value chain from sugarcane to Bio-BDO, Bio-PTMG, and Bio Spandex. The company stated that this system is designed to connect all stages of bio-based spandex manufacturing within a single infrastructure.

Sugarcane has been identified as a feedstock for bio-based material production due to its large-scale agricultural availability and carbon reduction potential. Hyosung TNC noted that its sugarcane sourcing is verified through the VIVE platform.

The regen™ BIO Spandex developed through this process is intended to provide performance characteristics such as durability, stretch, and recovery for applications including activewear, sportswear, and compression garments, while contributing to reduced carbon footprint.

Sora Yoo, Vice President Marketng, Hyosung TNC, said: “At a moment when the industry is moving from commitments to action, Hyosung TNC offers something beyond a material; a scalable system designed to make bio-based the new baseline, not the exception. We are excited to share how our regen™ Bio Spandex can be the solution to active and bodywear brands’ transition, powered by sugarcane at Functional Fabric Fair this April 7-9.”

Alongside its bio-based materials, Hyosung TNC showcased its CREORA® functional fibers. These included CREORA® Conadu Polyester, designed to combine cotton-like texture with stretch; CREORA® Coolwave Nylon, developed for cooling and moisture management; and CREORA® EasyFlex Spandex, which provides stretch with shape retention and includes a dyeable version for improved colour consistency.

Hyosung TNC also sponsored the FFF DAY 0 Sustainability Workshop held on April 7, 2026. The workshop included discussions by sustainability practitioners and manufacturers on topics related to industry practices and case studies. Participants engaged in roundtable sessions and interactive activities.

On April 9 from 11:20 AM to 12:05 PM, Malvina Hoxha, Hyosung TNC US Marketing Director, and Thomas Chiu, Research & Design Director, Chia Her, hosted a session titled “Next Generation Bio-Based Spandex – Scaling regen™ Bio Spandex Through Fiber & Fabric Engineering.” The session addressed the transition of regen™ BIO Spandex feedstock from corn to sugarcane, scaling of BIO-BDO production, and requirements for adoption at the mill level.

Hyosung TNC participated in the Functional Fabric Fair at booth 538.
