INDA Displays Manufacturing and Nonwovens’ Sustainability

A Special Issue of International Fiber Journal Dedicated to Sustainable Innovations is Released

September 11, 2024, Cary, NC — The International Fiber Journal (IFJ) has released a special sustainability issue devoted to nonwovens, which is something that INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, is delighted to announce. A major component of the association’s 2024 strategic sustainability program, which was introduced at the start of 2024 in response to input indicating that sustainability remained one of the nonwovens industry’s top objectives, is this special issue, which was sponsored by INDA.

Leading companies in the field, including as Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Glatfelter, Lenzing Fibers, NatureWorks LLC, Hollingsworth & Vose, MANN+HUMMEL, Nexus Circular, Henkel Corporation, and INDA, have contributed exclusive information to the IFJ special issue. This edition delves into important sustainability issues, organized around three fundamental pillars that are essential to the future of the industry: end-of-life solutions, innovations in sustainability, and responsible sourcing. Among the featured subjects are:

Sustainable nonwoven materials for the environment Plastics that are single-use and circular

Post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials’ potential in nonwovens

Managing regulatory obstacles

developments in nonwovens made of bio

The contribution of polymers and plastics to sustainability

“This International Fiber Journal special issue is an essential component of our multifaceted sustainability initiative, which aims to offer the nonwovens industry and INDA members new and improved offerings.” The industry’s gathering to exchange ideas on the sustainability issues we confront excites us, according to INDA President Tony Fragnito.

“The industry as a whole and our members in particular are setting the standard for waste reduction and resource conservation. According to Jessica Franken, an INDA sustainability consultant, “This special IFJ issue highlights creative solutions that emphasize recycling, reuse, and reduction of nonwoven products and materials, ensuring a more sustainable future for our planet.”

The IFJ Chief Content Officer and Publisher Caryn Smith states, “The special issue of the IFJ focused solely on sustainability and circularity in the nonwovens sector is a marker in time detailing current progress, potential challenges to overcome, and future aspirations of the industry.” We are glad to work with INDA on this important tool that aims to promote change via a discussion of viewpoints. We’ll keep covering this subject as long as new developments and trends emerge. Online and in print form, this edition of IFJ will be available at the INDA Booth during the IDEA Show in May 2025.
