India and Decathlon discuss opportunities in performance textiles, advanced materials, sustainability, product testing and technical R&D.
India and Decathlon are exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration in sportswear innovation and technical textiles, with a focus on performance, advanced materials, sustainability and research-driven product development.
Secretary (Textiles) Smt. Neelam Shami Rao visited the Decathlon SportsLab in the Lille metropolitan region, a research and innovation centre focused on sportswear, performance products and human-centred design.

The visit provided an overview of Decathlon SportsLab’s work in areas including biomechanics, body morphology, movement sciences, thermal comfort and product testing. These capabilities demonstrate the role of research and technology in developing products with improved performance, safety and comfort.
India is already an important market and sourcing partner for Decathlon, creating opportunities to expand collaboration further. Discussions focused on potential partnerships covering performance textiles, sportswear innovation, advanced materials, sustainability, circularity, product testing and technical research and development.
India’s manufacturing base, expanding innovation ecosystem and growing technical textile sector could support Decathlon’s global sourcing, manufacturing and innovation requirements, opening scope for deeper engagement between the two sides.
