Italian Textile Machinery Sector Faces Challenges and Seeks Innovation

During its General Assembly on July 9, ACIMIT in Milan brought attention to the industry’s emphasis on innovation in the face of global uncertainty. A 16% decrease in output and exports, amounting to 2.3 billion euros and 2 billion euros, respectively, was disclosed by President Marco Salvadè in 2023. Although demand in major countries such as China, Turkey, India, and the US was slow last year, encouraging signals are starting to appear in 2024, particularly from China, Egypt, Pakistan, Brazil, and Japan.

With a spotlight on textile recycling, ACIMIT aims to leverage European green initiatives for sustainable growth. Salvadè emphasised the industry’s commitment to combining tradition and innovation, urging rapid advancements to navigate evolving market challenges. The sector’s resilience and expertise position Italy as a global leader in textile machinery, crucial for driving the circular transformation of business models.

As the sector prioritizes research and development and complies with EU regulations, cooperation is essential to raising sustainability and competitiveness. Italian textile machinery manufacturers are well-positioned to influence the direction of the industry by utilizing their well-known innovation and high caliber to satisfy changing needs.
