LANXESS has inaugurated a new blending facility for lubricant additives at its manufacturing site in Jhagadia, Gujarat, marking a key milestone in expanding its footprint in India and strengthening regional supply capabilities.
As part of the initial phase, the plant will focus on producing specialty lubricant additives, catering to customers across India, the Middle East, and other global markets. The facility has been designed with a strong emphasis on safety, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible operations.
Dr. Hubert Fink, Member of the Board of Management at LANXESS AG, highlighted India’s strategic importance, stating that the country continues to offer strong growth opportunities. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to long-term investments and sustainable development aligned with India’s industrial progress.
The new facility enhances LANXESS’ ability to deliver faster, more reliable services while strengthening technical collaboration with customers. It also supports the company’s strategy of aligning global capabilities with local market needs.
Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Lubricant Additives business, emphasized that India—being the world’s third-largest lubricants market—plays a crucial role in LANXESS’ growth plans. He noted that the plant represents a significant step following the establishment of the Application Technology Center in 2025, reinforcing the company’s “Make in India” commitment and local-for-local manufacturing approach.
Additionally, LANXESS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation Limited to introduce advanced technologies into the Indian market. The company has also initiated third-party manufacturing activities for its lubricant additives division in India.
The inauguration event was attended by company leadership, industry stakeholders, partners, and employees, underscoring the importance of the development.
With this new facility, LANXESS strengthens its position in India as a strategic growth hub while continuing to deliver high-performance chemical solutions for mobility and industrial applications worldwide.
