During the presentation of the Union Budget 2025-26 in Parliament today, Smt. The National Manufacturing Mission would prioritise five key areas: quality goods, a thriving and dynamic MSME sector, future-ready people for in-demand employment, convenience and cost of doing business, and technology availability.

The Union Finance Minister added that the Mission will also assist Clean Tech manufacturing and work to enhance domestic value addition and develop the ecosystem for solar PV cells, EV batteries, wind turbines, motors and controllers, electrolysers, very high voltage gearbox equipment and grid-scale batteries.

The government would implement particular policy and facilitation measures to encourage employment and entrepreneurial prospects in labour-intensive industries, the finance minister added in his overview of actions for these sectors.

The Union Minister stated that a focus product plan will be put into place in order to improve the footwear and leather industry’s competitiveness, quality, and productivity in India. The Union Finance Minister added that in addition to supporting leather footwear and goods, the program would help the design capability, component manufacturing, and machinery needed to produce footwear of non-leather quality. It is anticipated that the initiative will create jobs for 22 lakh people, produce 4 lakh crore in revenue, and increase exports by more than Rs. 1.1 lakh crore.

In order to establish India as a worldwide centre for toys, the Union Minister also suggested implementing the National Action Plan for Toys. In order to produce high-quality, distinctive, inventive, and sustainable toys that will embody the ‘Made in India’ brand, the program will concentrate on developing clusters, skills, and a manufacturing ecosystem, the Minister continued.

Regarding assistance for food processing, the Union Finance Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to “Purvodaya.” A National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management would be established in Bihar, according to the Union Minister’s proposal. The institute will provide food processing operations throughout the Eastern area a significant boost. By adding value to their food, farmers will earn more money, and young people will have access to job possibilities, entrepreneurship, and skill development.
