Orta & Archroma Launch Wool Waste Dyed Denim

Archroma, a global specialty chemicals company, has partnered with Türkiye-based premium denim manufacturer Orta Anadolu (ORTA) to introduce a new denim collection featuring circular dye technology. The collection will be unveiled at Kingpins Amsterdam, taking place on April 15–16, 2026.

The newly launched collection incorporates Archroma’s FiberColors® dyes, which are produced using at least 50% pre-consumer wool waste—primarily discarded fleeces that would otherwise be treated as waste. This innovative approach replaces petroleum-based raw materials while maintaining the same performance standards, including color fastness, as traditional sulfur dyes. Additionally, the dyes are approved under GOTS standards.

Following successful trials conducted in late 2025, ORTA has selected three key shades for the collection: DIRESUL® FIBER-TEAK (brown), DIRESUL® FIBER-SLATE (blue-grey), and DIRESUL® FIBER-GRAPHITE (dark grey). These shades reflect the company’s commitment to blending aesthetic appeal with responsible and sustainable production practices, demonstrating the readiness of FiberColors® for large-scale denim manufacturing.

Archroma highlighted that FiberColors® builds on the success of its EarthColors® platform, which has already been adopted by over 50 global brands and has enabled the upcycling of significant volumes of plant-based waste. By extending this concept to wool waste, the company aims to further advance circular chemistry solutions within the textile industry.

Founded in 1953 and focused on denim since 1985, ORTA has established itself as a leading sustainable denim producer with a strong global presence. The company emphasized that this collaboration showcases how circular economy principles can be commercially viable, transforming waste into valuable resources while creating fashionable, recyclable, and even compostable denim products.
