RSWM Ltd. Embarks on ₹315 Crore Expansion to Boost Cotton Yarn Capacity and Employment Opportunities

RSWM Ltd., the textile giant at the forefront of India’s textile industry, has announced a groundbreaking investment of ₹315 crore for the expansion of its compact cotton yarn capacity at its Lodha Unit in Banswara, Rajasthan. With the current spindle capacity standing at an impressive 95,376, the company is set to elevate its capabilities further with an anticipated increase of 51,072 spindles by the end of the fiscal year 2023-24.

Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Riju Jhunjhunwala, Chairman and Managing Director of RSWM Ltd., the company has firmly established itself as a global textile powerhouse. With a legacy of quality craftsmanship spanning over 11 manufacturing plants across Rajasthan, RSWM has successfully exported an extensive range of yarns and fabrics to over 90 countries worldwide.

The strategic decision to expand its capacity stems from the surging demand for cotton and the flourishing cotton industry. Market analyses conducted by ICRA indicate a promising upswing of nearly 10% in volume terms for the cotton yarn industry in FY2024. Similarly, data from the CareEdge report underscores the potential for the Indian cotton yarn industry to register impressive sales volume growth between 5-7%, with an expected expansion of operating margins by 1-1.50%.

Mr. Riju Jhunjhunwala expressed his excitement about the expansion, stating, “This momentous decision marks a pivotal step towards propelling the next phase of growth for the Indian cotton industry. Our investment is not only aligned with the Indian Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision but also seeks to invigorate the local economy by generating employment opportunities for regional communities.”

Highlighting the global potential of India’s cotton-spinning prowess, Mr. Jhunjhunwala underscored the opportunity to tap into the extensive overseas market for 100% combed compact cotton yarn. He also emphasized the company’s commitment to women’s empowerment, with plans to target 30% female employees in the workforce, aiming to create over 525 direct and 125 indirect employment opportunities.
