Following a three-step investment, Tayal Spa, a Turkish-Algerian partnership, intends to construct the largest textile production plant in Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, which will occupy a total of 2.5 million square metres in the Sidi Khettap industrial zone of Algiers. Istanbul-based Taypa is a textiles business and a division of Tay Group. The company’s main office is located in Buyukcekmece, an area of the Istanbul suburbs. While its washing and R&D centre is in Corlu, its clothing factories are in Silivri and Bolu. The facilities cover 70,000 square metres, and they employ about 3,000 people to make both denim and non-denim clothing. The business exports goods worth $100 million to countries outside of Turkey. Some of the world’s leading fashion brands.
Tay Group’s first overseas investment was T&C Garments in 2010, taking up an area of 40,000 square metres in Egypt. It produces a variety of clothing, with a production capacity of 500,000 pieces per month. With a total of 2,500 employees, the company makes 10% of Egyptian garments and apparel exports in its own product group. Most of the production in Egypt is exported to the USA, and total exports are worth US$ 50 million.
