Wiliot and CISC Partner to Scale Battery-Free IoT Pixel Production

Wiliot and CISC Semiconductor have partnered to advance high-volume functional testing of Wiliot’s battery-free IoT Pixels, with a new standardized testing solution designed to improve production efficiency and quality assurance.

Wiliot, a developer of Physical AI solutions for supply chains, and CISC Semiconductor, a provider of testing and measurement solutions for wireless identification technologies, have announced a partnership to support the high-volume production and testing of Wiliot’s battery-free IoT Pixels.

Under the partnership, CISC has optimized its BLE Xplorer testing solution for Wiliot’s IoT Pixels and integrated it with the Wiliot Physical AI platform. The testing system can be incorporated into reel-to-reel production equipment or deployed as a dedicated offline tester, providing manufacturers with a standardized approach to testing IoT Pixels across different production environments.

Faster Testing for High-Volume Production

Testing infrastructure can be a significant challenge when establishing production lines for IoT Pixels, often requiring manufacturers to develop customized equipment and processes. The BLE Xplorer solution is designed to simplify this process by providing a repeatable testing platform that can accelerate supplier onboarding and support the expansion of Wiliot’s global manufacturing capacity.

According to the companies, BLE Xplorer can test up to 6,500 units per hour per lane, compared with approximately 1,500 units per hour supported by conventional stop-and-go testing stations.

The system provides an individual pass-or-fail result for every unit, allowing manufacturers to conduct 100% production testing and identify non-functioning IoT Pixels before they move further through the manufacturing process.

Inline Testing and Production Integration

The BLE Xplorer architecture can connect with new and existing reel-to-reel production equipment using trigger lines, serial interfaces and general-purpose input/output connections.

This allows the system to synchronize with production machinery and support automated sorting or marking based on test results. Production data can also be recorded at the individual-unit level, providing manufacturers with greater visibility into quality and production performance.

Specialized antenna configurations are used to isolate individual units during testing, helping ensure that test results are correctly associated with the corresponding IoT Pixel even in dense production environments.

Where testing requirements do not match the operating speed of conversion machinery, manufacturers can also deploy BLE Xplorer as an offline testing system.

Supporting Wiliot’s Physical AI Ecosystem

The partnership is aimed at strengthening the manufacturing infrastructure supporting Wiliot’s growing Physical AI ecosystem.

Wiliot’s technology uses battery-free Bluetooth IoT Pixels that harvest energy from ambient radio waves. These Pixels create a scan-free sensing layer across supply chains, while the Wiliot Physical AI platform uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to process data related to location, temperature, humidity, movement and dwell time.

The resulting intelligence can be used to support automated workflows and improve visibility across supply-chain operations.

Expanded production capacity for IoT Pixels is expected to support the wider deployment of applications such as Inventory Intelligence, Automated Receiving, Automated Shipment Verification, Reusable Asset Tracking and Temperature Monitoring.

These applications have potential use across retail, grocery, food and beverage, logistics, transportation and post-and-parcel operations, helping organizations improve inventory accuracy, automate workflows, protect sensitive products and reduce waste.

Standardized Quality Assurance for Manufacturers

The companies believe that a standardized testing approach can help reduce the engineering requirements associated with onboarding new manufacturing partners.

By integrating BLE Xplorer with Wiliot’s Physical AI platform, manufacturers can capture unit-level test results and identify performance issues during production. This provides a scalable quality-assurance mechanism as production volumes increase.

Sagi Lindenfeld, Chief Operating Officer at Wiliot, said the standardized testing solution can help accelerate supplier onboarding, reduce custom engineering requirements and strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem supporting the company’s Physical AI platform.

Dr. Markus Pistauer, CEO and Founder of CISC, highlighted the ability of BLE Xplorer Inline to bring comprehensive testing directly into the production process, allowing manufacturers to test IoT Pixels at line speed while capturing performance data and identifying exceptions.

BLE Xplorer to Debut in September

CISC is scheduled to begin pre-sales for BLE Xplorer in September 2026. The solution is expected to make its debut at LOUPE Americas 2026 in Chicago, with first customer deliveries scheduled for the end of Q3 2026.

The partnership represents another step toward scaling battery-free IoT technology for applications requiring granular, real-time visibility across increasingly connected supply chains.
