In the presence of Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, WPT Nonwovens Corp. inaugurated a new $19.5 million manufacturing facility in Ohio County. This cutting-edge facility marks a significant investment in the region and is expected to produce 35 new, high-paying jobs in Kentucky.

A significant capital investment was undertaken to construct a 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility complete with a cutting-edge carded nonwoven production line. This development will improve the company’s annual HVAC filter media and hygiene cloth production capacity by approximately 12,000 metric tons.

This new facility benefits not only WPT, but also the larger Kentucky community. The development of 35 high-quality manufacturing positions will strengthen the local job market, and expanded production capacity is expected to strengthen the domestic supply chain for these items, benefiting countless other finished product manufacturers in Kentucky.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority performed an important role in promoting investment and employment growth. In May 2021, it preliminarily approved an incentive deal with WPT Nonwovens through the Kentucky Business Investment Program. This agreement allows the corporation to retain a share of the new tax income generated by fulfilling its annual targets during the life of the agreement. Eligible incentives can be applied to the company’s income tax due and/or wage assessments, providing a considerable boost to WPT’s growth and community contributions.

“There has never been a better time to grow your business here in the commonwealth and take advantage of the many unique resources this great state has to offer,” Andy Beshear, governor of Kentucky, stated. “WPT is a domestic success story that demonstrates to the world that manufacturing in Kentucky is thriving. I’m thrilled to see the company expand more in Ohio County. I’d want to thank WPT’s leadership for their continuous investment in the commonwealth and congratulate them on this exciting next step for the company.”

“As WPT Nonwovens Corp begins on this new chapter of growth, we congratulate their commitment to providing excellent goods and constructive contributions to our business community. This expansion demonstrates their success and creates new prospects for Ohio County’s expanding manufacturing sector.

According to Jason Chinn, executive director of the Ohio County Economic Development Alliance, WPT Nonwovens Corp. is a key contributor to the local business community’s growth.
