CMAI Eco-Stitch Hub to Spotlight Sustainable Textiles at Bharat Tex

The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Textile Sustainability (GATS), will launch the Eco-Stitch Sustainability & Circularity Hub at Bharat Tex 2026, highlighting India’s growing leadership in sustainable, circular and globally competitive textile and apparel manufacturing.

Developed as one of the flagship attractions at Bharat Tex 2026, the initiative is built around the theme “Sustainable, Circular and Competitive Bharat.” The hub aims to showcase India’s integrated textile ecosystem, covering the complete value chain—from fibres, yarns and fabrics to recycling, garment manufacturing, sustainable technologies, digital traceability and responsible fashion.

The Eco-Stitch Hub has been designed to demonstrate how the Indian textile and apparel industry is adapting to changing global sourcing requirements while strengthening its position as a preferred manufacturing destination for international brands and retailers.

The pavilion will feature a series of immersive thematic experiences, including the India Impact Wall, Circularity at Scale, From Waste to Global Wardrobe, Made in Circular Bharat, Material & Innovation Library, and the Circular Bharat Forum. These dedicated zones will showcase India’s capabilities in recycled and natural fibres, resource-efficient production, circular manufacturing models, digital product traceability and sustainable product innovation.

Beyond the exhibition, the Eco-Stitch Sustainability & Circularity Hub will function as a business networking platform, bringing together manufacturers, exporters, brands, recyclers, technology providers, start-ups, certification agencies, policymakers and global organisations. The programme will include buyer walkthroughs, B2B meetings, CEO dialogues, sustainability-focused knowledge sessions, product launches, report releases, case studies, product demonstrations and strategic partnership announcements.

Speaking about the initiative, Santosh Katariya, President of CMAI, said global buyers are increasingly evaluating sourcing destinations based on sustainability, transparency and regulatory preparedness.

“Through the Eco-Stitch Sustainability & Circularity Hub at Bharat Tex 2026, CMAI is bringing together the entire textile and apparel value chain to showcase India’s ability to deliver sustainable manufacturing at scale. The initiative reflects our industry’s collective commitment to making sustainability a strategic business advantage while reinforcing India’s position as a trusted and future-ready global sourcing hub,” he said.

Naveen Sainani, Honorary General Secretary and Chairman of the ESG Committee at CMAI, noted that the association has been actively working with industry stakeholders to improve sustainability readiness and strengthen India’s competitiveness in international markets.

“The Eco-Stitch Sustainability & Circularity Hub is a natural extension of this vision, bringing together the textile and apparel ecosystem on a common platform to accelerate innovation, circularity, knowledge exchange and global partnerships,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Parvinder Singh, Founder-Director of GATS, said the pavilion will showcase India’s strengths in responsible manufacturing, circular materials, recycling innovation and traceable textile value chains.

“As the global textile industry shifts towards sustainability-led competitiveness, this pavilion brings together brands, manufacturers, innovators, recyclers and knowledge partners to demonstrate practical solutions for a more sustainable, circular and competitive Bharat,” he said.

The event will also witness the release of a CXO Blueprint and a Sustainable Textiles Accord, aimed at guiding the industry towards measurable sustainability and circularity goals.

The initiative comes at a time when sustainability has become central to global textile trade, driven by regulations such as the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Digital Product Passport (DPP), Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). International buyers are increasingly seeking manufacturing partners capable of delivering environmentally responsible, transparent and resilient supply chains.

The Eco-Stitch Sustainability & Circularity Hub is supported by several leading organisations, including Grasim, GIZ, UNEP, UNIDO, Alliance for Textile Sustainability, Centre for Responsible Business (CRB), Conserve India, Fashion for Change (FMC), IDH, Green Stitch, Grant Thornton, H&M, Fashion for Good, Canopy, Otteri, Reput, Restart Alliance, Recore and Ramsons, among others.

By bringing together innovation, business, policy and sustainability under one platform, the Eco-Stitch Sustainability & Circularity Hub is expected to reinforce Bharat Tex 2026 as a key global forum for shaping the future of India’s textile and apparel industry while strengthening the country’s position in international value chains.
