Coloration Technology Journal Appoints New Editorial Leadership

The Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) has announced a major editorial transition for its peer-reviewed journal, Coloration Technology, signaling a new phase of growth and global engagement.

Following an extensive international recruitment process conducted in partnership with Wiley, the SDC has appointed a dual editorial leadership team. Effective April 2026, Dr Mohammad Tajul Islam will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief, while Prof Dr Roshan Paul will serve as Associate Editor.

First published in 1884 as the Journal of the Society of Dyers and Colourists (JSDC), Coloration Technology has been published in collaboration with Wiley since 1999, maintaining a long-standing legacy in textile research and innovation.

The transition follows the departure of Andrew Towns, who steps down after leading the journal since 2011. During his tenure, the publication achieved notable milestones, including consistent growth in its Impact Factor.

Dr Graham Clayton, CEO of SDC, emphasized that the dual-editor model reflects a strategic move to enhance the journal’s global influence and academic excellence. He noted that the combined expertise and international networks of the new editors will help shape the publication’s future trajectory.

Dr Islam, an Associate Professor at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, brings strong academic credentials and has been part of the journal’s Editorial Panel since 2020. He is also actively involved in the SDC Bangladesh Region Committee and other professional bodies.

Prof Paul, based at University of Beira Interior, offers extensive editorial and research experience, having served on the journal’s Editorial Panel since 2008. His international background further strengthens the journal’s academic reach.

Speaking on the appointment, Dr Islam said, “It’s a privilege to take on this role and build on the excellent work already achieved. We’re focused on expanding the journal’s global reach and continuing to enhance its relevance to both academia and industry.”

Prof Paul added, “I am delighted to step into this role at such an important time for the journal. Having been involved with Coloration Technology for many years, I am excited to work alongside Dr Islam to further strengthen its international profile and academic excellence, while supporting the next generation of research in the field.”

The introduction of a dual-editor structure—spanning Europe and Asia—highlights the journal’s commitment to strengthening global collaboration, expanding research engagement, and reinforcing its position within the international textile science community.
