Global CCU Experts to Gather at 2027 CO2 Chemistry Event

The CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2027 has officially opened its call for abstracts, inviting researchers, industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to submit contributions on the latest advances in Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU), Power-to-X, and CO2-based fuels, chemicals, and materials.

Organised as a leading international platform for carbon utilisation innovation, the conference will take place on 21–22 April 2027 in Cologne, Germany, in a hybrid format. The event is expected to bring together more than 200 global experts from industry, academia, and policy to discuss the future of renewable carbon, circular feedstocks, and sustainable production systems.

Global Platform for CO2 Utilisation and Renewable Carbon Innovation

The conference offers a broad overview of developments in transforming captured CO2 into valuable end products such as fuels, chemicals, polymers, and alternative materials including proteins. It is designed to support collaboration and knowledge exchange across the CCU and Power-to-X ecosystem while helping accelerate the shift toward circular and renewable carbon solutions.

With growing global attention on carbon utilisation technologies and the European Union’s Net-Zero Industry Act recognising CCU as a strategic technology, the 2027 conference is expected to provide important insights into technological progress, market expansion, and evolving policy frameworks.

According to the organisers, production of CO2-based products has already exceeded 1.5 million tonnes annually, underlining the commercial relevance and scaling potential of the sector.

Abstract Submission Open Until 16 November 2026

The organisers are inviting abstracts from participants working on innovative research, industrial applications, and breakthrough technologies in the field of carbon utilisation and renewable carbon systems.

By submitting an abstract, participants gain an opportunity to present their work to a highly specialised international audience and engage directly with decision-makers, business leaders, technology developers, and policy experts shaping the future of CCU, green hydrogen, and sustainable chemicals.

The abstract submission deadline is 16 November 2026.

Poster Session to Highlight Research and EU Projects

In addition to conference presentations, the event will also host a dedicated poster pitch session designed for researchers and EU-funded projects. The session will provide a concise and interactive platform for presenting findings, exchanging feedback, and building new collaborations across academia and industry.

The call for posters remains open until 4 April 2027.

Innovation Award to Recognise Best CO2 Utilisation Solutions

A major highlight of the conference will be the “Best CO2 Utilisation 2027” Innovation Award, which will recognise innovative products and technologies in the field of carbon capture and utilisation.

Sponsored by Yncoris, the award is co-organised by nova-Institute and CO2 Value Europe.

Nominees will be selected by an international expert board, while winners will be chosen through live audience voting during the conference. The deadline for innovation submissions is 1 February 2027.

Exhibition and Sponsorship Opportunities Available

The CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference 2027 will also include a dedicated trade exhibition, offering companies and organisations the opportunity to showcase products, technologies, and services to a focused audience of industry stakeholders, investors, policymakers, and research professionals.

Exhibitors and sponsors will have the chance to strengthen brand visibility, generate business leads, and position themselves as leaders in circular carbon and renewable materials solutions.

Supporting the Transition to Circular Carbon Economy

As CCU, Power-to-X, and renewable carbon technologies gain momentum globally, the CO2-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference continues to play an important role in bringing together stakeholders across the value chain to accelerate innovation, scale sustainable business models, and support the decarbonisation of fuels and chemicals production.

The event is expected to serve as a key meeting point for those working to transform CO2 from an emission challenge into a valuable raw material for the future low-carbon economy.
