The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), in collaboration with the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) and under the guidance of Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will bring global cotton and textile industry leaders together for the ICAC International Seminar 2026 on September 10 in Taipei.
Held under the theme “Strategic Synergies between Cotton and Man-Made Fiber Value Chains,” the seminar will focus on strengthening textile supply chains, advancing sustainability and circularity, and developing innovative blended and high-value-added textile applications.
Global Textile Supply Chain in Focus
The event will examine the changing dynamics of the global textile industry, including evolving trade relationships, geopolitical uncertainties, sustainability requirements, technological developments and changing consumer preferences.
Kanwar Usman, Head of Textiles at ICAC, will deliver a 30-minute keynote titled “Outlook for the Global Cotton Textile Supply Chain.”
His presentation will explore emerging global trade trends, developments reshaping textile supply chains and market factors expected to influence the cotton and textile industries.
Usman said the seminar will bring together expertise from across the value chain to identify opportunities to strengthen supply-chain resilience, promote responsible innovation and create greater value for cotton and textiles.
Panel to Examine Innovative Blended Applications
Following the keynote, a panel discussion titled “Innovative Textile Blended Applications: From Production to Branding” will explore opportunities for combining cotton and man-made fibres to create innovative textile products.
The session will be moderated by Justin Huang, President of the Taiwan Textile Federation, and will feature:
- Dr. Charudatta Mayee, President, Indian Society for Cotton Improvement
- Dr. Fanny Liao, Executive Vice President, Far Eastern New Century Corp.
- Dr. Hans Hsu, President, Ruentex Industries Limited
The panel is expected to address developments across the textile value chain, from fibre and fabric production to product development and branding.
Focus on Sustainability and Circular Economy
A key focus of the seminar will be the development of sustainable textile processes and circular-economy solutions.
Taiwan’s textile industry has developed a strong portfolio of green manufacturing processes and high-value-added textile products. The seminar will provide a platform to showcase these developments while encouraging greater collaboration between cotton, man-made fibre and textile stakeholders.
The discussions will also explore how innovative fibre blends can support product diversification, resource efficiency and new market opportunities.
Long-Standing ICAC-Taiwan Partnership
Taiwan and ICAC have maintained a long-standing partnership in organizing textile-focused seminars in Taipei. Since 2005, the two organizations have hosted eight editions of the seminar.
The 2026 edition will once again bring together representatives from the cotton, textile, fibre, manufacturing and related industries to discuss opportunities for greater integration across the global textile supply chain.
The ICAC International Seminar 2026 will be held at the National Taiwan University Hospital International Conference Center in Taipei. Mandarin-English simultaneous interpretation will be available for participants.
