In the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the United States, the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) of India is making preparations to send a high-profile delegation to promote exports of manmade fiber and technical textiles to the US market. With the US being one of the leading export destinations for Indian textiles and clothing, this initiative aims to further strengthen bilateral trade relations.
Highlighting the significance of the US market, Bhadresh Dodhia, Chairman of the SRTEPC, emphasized that the country not only serves as a major export market but also provides a valuable source of high-quality raw materials for Indian manufacturers of technical textiles. This includes specialty yarns, aramid yarns, and filter fabrics, which are essential components for the production of advanced textiles.
India’s exports of manmade yarns and fabrics reached a total of USD 788 million in the fiscal year 2022-23, witnessing a marginal decline of 10 percent compared to the previous fiscal year’s figure of USD 878.34 million. Recognizing the potential for growth in this sector, the SRTEPC’s efforts to enhance trade ties and explore new opportunities in the US market hold considerable importance.
Established in 1954, the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council is one of the oldest Export Promotion Councils in India, dedicated to promoting the growth and development of the synthetic and rayon textile industry. Over the years, it has played a pivotal role in facilitating trade and fostering partnerships between Indian manufacturers and global buyers.
The forthcoming delegation’s visit is expected to include various promotional activities, such as business meetings, networking sessions, and participation in textile exhibitions, aimed at showcasing India’s capabilities in the production of manmade fiber and technical textiles. The delegation will also engage with potential buyers, importers, and industry stakeholders to discuss trade opportunities, exchange knowledge, and forge strategic alliances.
The US textile market presents immense potential for Indian manufacturers, who are renowned for their high-quality products, competitive pricing, and adherence to international standards. By leveraging the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and capitalizing on the existing trade relations, the SRTEPC aims to bolster India’s position as a key player in the global textile industry.
As the delegation prepares to embark on its journey, all eyes are on the fruitful outcomes and the positive impact this trade mission will have on the export of Indian manmade fiber and technical textiles to the United States. The SRTEPC remains committed to driving growth, fostering innovation, and expanding market reach to further strengthen India’s position as a leading textile exporter worldwide.
