Italian Textile Machinery Industry Strengthens Bangladesh Partnership with Dual Industrial Mission

The Italian textile machinery industry is reinforcing its presence in Bangladesh with a two-city industrial mission aimed at supporting technological modernization and sustainable manufacturing. Organized by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and ACIMIT, the mission will take place on July 7 in Dhaka and July 9 in Chittagong, bringing Italian machinery manufacturers together with key players across Bangladesh’s textile value chain.

The initiative reflects Bangladesh’s growing importance as one of Italy’s leading textile machinery export destinations in Asia. The country recorded €71 million in imports of Italian textile machinery in 2025, marking a 17% year-on-year increase, highlighting the strong demand for advanced production technologies.

Bangladesh Emerges as a Strategic Textile Machinery Market

Asia continues to be the largest export market for Italian textile machinery, accounting for 40% of the industry’s overseas sales, valued at approximately €667 million. Within the region, Bangladesh has strengthened its position as a critical market, driven by its expanding textile and apparel manufacturing sector.

The industrial mission aims to help Bangladeshi textile manufacturers adopt advanced technologies that improve production efficiency, product quality, and sustainability while supporting the country’s transition toward higher value-added textile manufacturing.

Focus on Technology, Sustainability and Innovation

The delegation will showcase Italy’s expertise in textile machinery across spinning, weaving, knitting, printing, finishing, and automation technologies. Italian manufacturers are known globally for delivering customized, high-performance machinery that supports flexible manufacturing and sustainable production.

Commenting on the initiative, Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT, said the strong export growth demonstrates that Bangladesh continues to view Italian technology as a trusted partner in improving competitiveness.

He noted that visiting both Dhaka and Chittagong allows Italian companies to directly engage with the country’s two major textile manufacturing hubs while presenting solutions that address productivity, quality, and environmental sustainability.

Business Networking and Technical Knowledge Sharing

The industrial mission will feature:

  • Business-to-business (B2B) meetings
  • Technical seminars
  • Product demonstrations
  • Technology presentations

The program has been designed to strengthen commercial partnerships while helping Bangladeshi manufacturers better understand the latest innovations in textile production.

The mission also serves as a precursor to ITMA Hanover 2027, where Italian manufacturers are expected to unveil next-generation textile technologies.
