Domtar’s EAM Facility in Jesup, Georgia, Positions Itself as Prominent Provider of Nonwoven Materials

Domtar Corporation’s Engineered Absorbent Materials (EAM) facility has recently completed a groundbreaking expansion project that solidifies the company’s position as a leading provider of nonwoven materials. With a $90 million investment, the facility now boasts a large-scale airlaid production line, doubling its production capabilities and creating 75 new jobs, further strengthening the local economy.

The expansion project has added an impressive 331,000 square feet of operational space to Domtar’s EAM facility, which now houses three airlaid lines, two laminate lines, and eight packaging lines. This significant increase in capacity positions Domtar to meet the growing demand for nonwoven materials across various industries.

Steve Henry, Domtar’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, expressed his confidence in the future prospects of Domtar’s pulp business and EAM, stating, “The EAM expansion adds more scale and technology, and combining it with our world-class fluff pulp business, we will deliver more value to our customers and Domtar for many years to come.”

VanĂ©cia Carr, the general manager of EAM, emphasized the impact of the expansion on Domtar’s market position, stating, “The EAM expansion makes Domtar the second-largest airlaid supplier in the United States and the third largest in the world.” This achievement solidifies Domtar’s status as a major player in the global nonwoven materials market.

In addition to the increased production capacity, the EAM facility has experienced substantial growth in its workforce. The number of employees has doubled from 75 to 150, with plans to hire an additional 20 individuals to reach a total of 170 employees. This expansion not only provides valuable job opportunities but also reflects Domtar’s commitment to supporting the local community and investing in initiatives that benefit Wayne County and the city of Jesup.
