KARL MAYER Expands TM WEFT Series with New 270-Inch Model for Fashion and Apparel Markets

Istanbul, Türkiye: KARL MAYER has unveiled the latest addition to its successful TM WEFT series, introducing the TM WEFT 270, a next-generation weft-insertion machine designed to deliver higher productivity, greater design flexibility, and enhanced efficiency for textile manufacturers serving the global fashion and apparel industry.

The new machine was presented at ITM 2026 in Istanbul, where KARL MAYER is showcasing its latest innovations aimed at meeting the evolving demands of textile producers in key markets such as China and Türkiye.

With a working width of 270 inches, the TM WEFT 270 offers significantly higher output compared to previous models while providing manufacturers with expanded creative possibilities for fabric development. The machine has been specifically engineered to support fashion-forward textile production, enabling designers and manufacturers to create distinctive fabrics that combine functionality, aesthetics, and performance.

Expanded Design Freedom for Fashion Fabrics

One of the most notable upgrades in the TM WEFT 270 is its enhanced pattern flexibility. The maximum threading capacity in the weft-insertion system has been increased from 30 to 36 weft ends, allowing textile producers to experiment with a broader range of yarn combinations, color variations, and fabric structures.

This advancement enables the creation of large-scale geometric designs featuring alternating dense and open stripes, as well as sophisticated seersucker textures achieved through the strategic integration of elastane yarns. The machine also introduces the ability to selectively stop the weft-insertion system, creating intentional gaps in the fabric structure that can be used as transparent design elements or functional openings.

Further enhancing creative possibilities, the TM WEFT 270 incorporates a multi-speed function that allows manufacturers to vary stitch density across the fabric. This capability creates striking visual contrasts between transparent and opaque sections, offering designers greater freedom to develop innovative and trend-driven textile concepts.

The stitch density can be adjusted within a range of 9 to 30 courses per centimeter, providing flexibility for both lightweight fashion fabrics and more structured textile applications.

Combining the Benefits of Weaving and Warp Knitting

By inserting weft yarns across the entire working width, the TM WEFT 270 enables the production of fabrics that combine the strengths of traditional weaving with the advantages of warp knitting. The result is a versatile textile structure offering improved stability, enhanced design options, and greater production efficiency.

This hybrid approach is increasingly attractive to apparel manufacturers seeking innovative fabric solutions that balance aesthetics, comfort, and performance.

High-Speed Production with Premium Quality

Available in E24 and E28 gauges, the TM WEFT 270 is capable of processing a wide variety of materials, including polyester, viscose, fancy yarns, and effect yarns. The machine supports yarn counts ranging from 33 dtex to 500 dtexin the weft-insertion system and 22 dtex to 110 dtex in the knitting unit.

Designed for industrial-scale production, the machine operates at speeds of up to 1,800 revolutions per minute, delivering exceptional productivity without compromising quality.

To ensure consistent fabric performance, the TM WEFT 270 is equipped with advanced pre-winders and a fabric spreading device. These systems maintain precise yarn tension throughout the production process, resulting in superior fabric uniformity and reduced production variability.

A Highlight at ITM 2026

The fabrics produced on the new TM WEFT 270 are among the key attractions at KARL MAYER’s exhibit during ITM 2026, taking place from June 9 to 13 at the Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center in Istanbul.

As global demand grows for innovative, high-performance, and visually distinctive textiles, KARL MAYER’s latest development reinforces its commitment to supporting textile manufacturers with advanced technologies that improve productivity while expanding creative possibilities.

With the launch of the TM WEFT 270, KARL MAYER continues to push the boundaries of warp knitting and weft-insertion technology, offering textile producers a powerful solution for meeting the future needs of the fashion and apparel industry.
