ANDRITZ has secured an order from Kruger Inc. to supply a complete WetlaceTM hybrid nonwovens production line for the Wayagamack mill located in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. The project marks a significant milestone for the Canadian nonwovens sector, as it will establish the country’s first WetlaceTM production line dedicated to manufacturing sustainable wipes.
The investment will enable newly established Kruger Nonwovens to enter the growing global nonwovens market with a new generation of plastic-free and chemical-free wipe materials designed to support environmentally responsible consumer products. Production at the facility is expected to begin in 2028.Although the financial value of the contract has not been disclosed, the order will be included in ANDRITZ’s order intake for the second quarter of 2026.
The project aligns closely with Kruger’s long-term sustainability strategy focused on transforming renewable resources into high-quality everyday essentials. The company aims to strengthen its position in sustainable materials while expanding beyond its traditional pulp and paper operations.Mansoor Parvaiz, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Kruger Nonwovens, emphasized the strategic importance of the investment, stating that the project reflects the company’s commitment to operational excellence, sustainable development, and responsible resource utilization. He also highlighted ANDRITZ’s role as a trusted technology partner throughout the development phase of the project.
Under the agreement, ANDRITZ will deliver a comprehensive scope of technologies and engineering services, including stock preparation systems, approach flow equipment, an inclined wire former, hydroentanglement technology with filtration systems, two through-air dryers, and an advanced quality control system. The company will also provide full engineering support, supervision of erection and commissioning, and specialized operator training programs during start-up and at ANDRITZ technical centers.The WetlaceTM technology combines the advantages of wetlaid and spunlace processes, enabling the production of high-performance biodegradable and sustainable nonwoven fabrics widely used in hygiene, personal care, and industrial wipe applications.
